Yesterday's work lost due to computer crash - Solved

I left my Windows 11 PC to fall asleep yesterday, and came in this morning to find that it wouldn’t wake up. I was forced to do a hard reset, which worked, but when I opened Scrivener yesterday’s work was gone.

I went to the backup folder and it says the .zip file from yesterday is empty. I went to Dropbox and yesterday’s file is named ‘IGS (DESKTOP-PB29GA0’s conflicted copy 2025-07-10.scrivx)’ When I download it, every folder and page is there, but they’re all blank.

This is very upsetting. I’m losing 5k+ words plus substantial edits. What should my next step be? I’m using Version: 1.9.16.0.

That is what happens when you have the project file (.scrivx), but not the project folder.
You need to get the whole of your project. (Folder.scriv)
Technically, the missing files should still exist, as they are created and modified as you work on your project.
Duplicate your current project and name it a bit different. Add xxxxx to the name, for example. (DO NOT DO ANY OF THIS ON YOUR REAL/CURRENT VERSION.)

Replace this new duplicated project’s.scrivx file with this one

Thank you! I downloaded the files/settings/snapshot from Dropbox along with the scriv and when I tried opening it there it was! All my lost text. Thank you, Vincent_Vincent!
