Zapping Gremlin #0x7F

Based on this finding maybe the weirdly placed #0x7F (ASCII Char 127 = Delete) should also be zapped. Unless it has a use in Scrivener that I don’t understand.

I can’t think of any reason for that to be in a file. It is, as far as I know, completely inert on Mac and Windows, and most front end systems for UNIX elsewhere (you might still find it in use in terminal emulators and old line editors I suppose). It shouldn’t break anything (other than cursor movement), but there is no reason to have it either.

It’s the null character that tends to confuse the text engine the most (in Scrivener and Scapple). I guess it really needs things to be something, and won’t accept that something can be nothing, or that nothing can be represented by something. :laughing:
