Zoom selection on bottom bar not clickable--related to mutliple monitors?

Scrivener on Windows user here. Version 3.something. Recently my zoom selector on the bottom of the screen has stopped working. When I click on it, the top bar grays out, as though by clicking on the zoom I have clicked away from Scrivener. I can still use the hotkey to zoom in and change it through the View tab.

I’m wondering if this bug is related to using multiple monitors? I have a docking station, and I back out to 75% on the big monitors because the font is overwhelmingly large otherwise. But I like it at 100% on my laptop. Maybe something is being cached when I go back and forth between having my laptop on and off the docking station?

Help!

That does seem a likely cause. While dynamically scaling the interface does in theory work, in my experience it often works better to restart the software after doing so. It could be the toolkit we use isn’t entirely rigged for this.

Another one potential that comes to mind is custom theme usage. If you are using a non-standard theme, try selecting Default or Dark Move from the Window ▸ Themes submenu, restart, and see if the problem ever comes back.

I have a three monitor setup using HDMI and display port connections directly to the computer (without issues). Do you have two or three monitors and what type of connections and are they daisy chained. Any one of those factors could also be playing a role.

I may have misread the original description too. Another reading could imply that the only factor being changed is Scrivener’s text zoom level, from 100% to 75%, rather than a global Windows’ level scaling factor that makes everything bigger.

There are two other factors to consider:

  • If one monitor is high-res and the other is not.
  • Windows 11 or 10.
