Alternate font replaced by main one after compile

Yeah, but italics and caps would look awful. I already use italics for character thoughts or emphasis, along with bold sometimes. I just wanted the font to be different, to set apart things like text messages and notes written to a character, which they are reading. I’m not sure how to solve this problem without it looking like hell. Hate to think I’ll have to leave it in the same font. Hopefully the indentions will be enough.

I use styles for anything I don’t want to compile as-is, and I only use very common fonts. I recommend checking what Amazon uses on their Kindles. I use Bookerly for almost everything (but it could be TNR, Garamond, etc.) and Helvetica for sciFi dialog passed across a 2099 version of the web. When I compile, styles remain unmodified by ordinary compile settings, but I can add an extra step to change those styles in Compile (at the Styles panel for each section layout).

Here’s an example of the power Scrivener’s styles can bring to the process. I’m writing sciFi (never to be completed, but still) in which a significant part of the dialog travels across a much more powerful world wide web between people (or artificial intelligences) using brain modems. I don’t want to say every time: “this was a Babel-connect transmission”, so I want a way to make it obvious. Quotation marks do that for spoken communication, and I don’t want to reuse them for this.
