Anyone know the limits for images in Scrivener projects?

So I like to keep reference images in folders in a project. I used to just import the JP(E)Gs, but that was killing the size of the projects, so I swapped over to WEBP as it gives good quality with lower file sizes. This works, for most of the time, but sometimes it doesn’t and the image is rendered simply as a blank.
My question, therefore, is does Scrivener have some kind of limit, either size of file, size of image in pixels, or even DPI, at which point it says ‘no’?
That way I can resize and convert to images that will be guaranteed to work.
Thanks.

There are no limits, but there are practical matters.
