Hello, I use Scrivener 3.4 (macOS) to write a short film script. When I compile my document in PDF I can’t get the (MORE) and (CONT’D) when the dialogues are straddling 2 pages. I understood that Scrivener could do that. Moreover, the option is available in Text Layout > Options button> (MORE) and (CONT’D) and ‘Fix script elements that flow accros pages’ and ‘Avoid splitting sentences across pages’ are checked. My document does not contain page foot notes.
Did I miss something? what are the good settings?
For your information I am French, I write in French and I am a beginner on Scrivener.

Salut. Peut-être déjà essayer de compiler ton script dans un autre format que PDF. (Le convertisseur PDF de Scrivener est plutôt de base, c’est surtout voulu pour donner une idée générale à l’utilisateur.) Essaie RTF. … Et si ça la fait, converti ton RTF en PDF dans un autre logiciel de traitement de texte.

Hi. Maybe try compiling your script into a format other than PDF. (Scrivener’s PDF converter is somewhat basic, and is mainly intended to give the user a general idea.) Try RTF. And if that works, convert your RTF to PDF in a third party app.

Salut et merci pour ta réponse. J’ai essayé de compiler en RTF mais cela ne fonctionne pas. De plus les options More et Cont’d ne sont pas disponibles dans ce format, uniquement en PDF et Imprimer.
J’ai essayé en changeant la langue de l’interface en anglais , comme vu dans ce post : https://forum.literatureandlatte.com/t/screenplay-format-more-contd/49844 , mais cela n"a pas fonctionné.

I can’t really help further than what I suggested you try, not being a scriptwriter, and therefore having no specific knowledge as regard to your current issue. (I know that compiling to PDF isn’t always 100%, but that’s about it.)
Perhaps @popcornflix could help.
Otherwise I suspect that one answer/suggestion that will eventually come out will be that you export your work to a scriptwriting dedicated software (Final draft ?) for the final formatting. (?)
(This said, it should work, from within Scrivener…)

Merci Vincent. J’ai finalement trouvé la solution après de nombreux essais! Si ça peut aider, voici le processus que j’ai utilisé.
J’ai changé l’interface de Scrivener en anglais, ensuite j’ai créé un nouveau projet avec les paramètres Screenplay (Script Mode) par défaut. J’ai seulement traduit les indications de scènes (Jour, Nuit, etc…) en français. J’ai effectué un copié/collé de mon script dans ce nouveau projet et j’ai compilé en PDF et là miracle, les MORE et CONT’D fonctionnent lorsqu’un dialogue est à cheval sur 2 pages.
J’ai de nouveau changé la langue de l’interface en français, mais les paramètres de script, eux, restent en anglais. C’est de la gymnastique mais ça fonctionne! Bonne journée.

I changed the Scrivener interface to English, then I created a new project with the default Screenplay (Script Mode) settings. I only translated the indications of scenes (Day, Night, etc…) into French. I copied/pasted my script into this new project and compiled it in PDF and miracle, MORE and CONT’D work when a dialogue is straddling 2 pages. Then I switched back the interface to French, but the Script Settings remain in English. It’s gymnastics but it works! Have a good day.

Hi! I’m using Scrivener 3.4 (Spanish) on a macOS Sequoia.
In this Spanish version of Scrivener it’s difficult to find the proper controls that Martik mentions
Is there an updated manual? because the one that comes in the app seems to be older and depicts the Windows version

The English version of the Scrivener manual can be downloaded from this webpage. There, users can select either the macOS or Windows versions as needed.
Since we’re a small software company, we lack the resources to provide the manual in languages other than English.
When handling help tickets, I’ve found I can use a PDF editing tool to split the manual into chapters. Then, I can use a website like DeepL.com to upload specific chapters and translate them.
That website has limitations on how many pages the PDF can be and how many PDFs can be translated each month for the free service. But, it’s a starting point.
For future reference, I strongly recommend using a dedicated screenwriting app like Final Draft in conjunction with Scrivener when writing screenplays. My output workflow is to duplicate the folder containing your screenplay documents, merge the documents into a single document, use Export Files set to FDX. Then open the FDX file in your screenplay processor to output your PDF with all the proper formatting.
If you don’t have an app like Final Draft already, I recommend WriterSolo which is completely free to use without limitation and nearly as good as Final Draft.
FWIW, I also write and redraft pages in the screenwriting app, and paste them back into Scrivener using Paste Text As Screenplay.
