[Scrivener 3.1.6, 64-bit, Windows 11] So, when I open a folder in Scrivenings mode, I get this fun problem where placing my cursor anywhere in the document automatically scrolls the editor to a new position (in the main editor and when in composition mode). It’s very similar to typewriter scrolling except 1) I don’t have that option enabled, and 2) the editor scrolls so far that my cursor and text are no longer visible.
If anyone has any ideas for a workaround for this I’d really appreciate it

It seems to be some sort of lag, because at the start of the folder, Scrivenings works just fine: I can have my editor positioned the way I like and type anywhere on-screen without the editor moving. This isn’t the case the further into the document I get: once I’m a few documents in, the editor shifts so my cursor is closer to the top of the screen. If I keep going down my list of documents, the cursor (and any added or deleted text) ends up outside of the editor’s view. The editor shifts even when I just move my cursor (so even before I start typing, I can’t see where my cursor is).
For relevant context, the folder I am trying to view in Scrivenings does contain ~27,500 words, so I assume that’s why I’m getting the lag effect. This ‘unaligned editor’ thing is a new issue, though, because the last time I viewed it in Scrivenings, it worked fine. (And, as a side note, the L&L blog post on Scrivenings markets it as being able to view entire manuscripts at once, so I really don’t think > 30,000 words should be a problem for it).
Thanks for the report. I don’t think we have anything quite precisely like this documented. The closest I can think of is this one, which describes a scroll offset problem when using navigation tools to jump between sections in the an existing scrivenings session. We do have a reproduction for that one, at this point. The symptoms you are describing certainly do fit that profile, but not the trigger.

So the question then is, when was the last time? Was it over a year ago, when you were using a version prior to 3.1.6, or more recently? If the latter, then something about the content or the settings applied to how you view Scrivenings mode, would be the first suspect. Anything you can think of along those lines would be helpful. Speaking on the one I linked you to, we found a binary correlation between the use of View ▸ Text Editing ▸ Show Titles in Scrivenings menu toggle, and whether the bug can be triggered. Other things might make it worse, or even be necessary, but that one seems to be the strongest trigger.
Ahh yep, turning off Show Titles in Scrivenings fixed it! I usually have that setting turned off, but I was messing with my Scrivenings set up the other day so I’m guessing I toggled it on to try it and immediately forgot. I can now return to viewing this folder as one massive document without issue
Okay, yes you can toggle that setting on or off if it gets in the way. Personally I find it too useful to avoid entirely, and put up with the minor scrolling issues (I don’t view large enough sessions for it to typically get very off sync).
