Is dragging and dropping the only current option?
What happens when you drag your mouse cursor over the little icon that is an “up” arrow? (to left of bullet point formatting)
Also, there are some restrictions on new id’s not being able to upload, but I don’t know details.
You mean like this?
Simply click the upload button and select image
There is a limitation on uploading until new members have a certain number of posts.

I also attempted it; if you grab the link to the image and add it to your post, it should work.
