iPad: Can't drag project into Dropbox

I’ve just installed the Dropbox app and bought my subscription. The Dropbox app is allowing me to view the Scrivener app and its contents, but within Scrivener, my project is visible outside the Dropbox folder. I can’t drag it in.

Meanwhile, in Scrivener, in Projects view I can see the blank line for Dropbox above the line for my project. I read instructions to click Edit, then drag the project upward into the Dropbox line.

But the project can’t be dragged, whether in Edit mode, in Edit mode with the project’s radio button selected, or even outside of Edit mode.

Why are my project and a Dropbox folder right next to each other in both apps, yet the project can’t be moved?

Thanks!!

Use Windows File explorer (I’m assuming you are using Windows) to move the Scrivener project folder from where it is to where you want it in Dropbox folder tree.

While you are at it, make sure you have Dropbox set for “offline” to have your files not exclusively “online”. Scrivener’s FAQ on the L&L website has guidance, as does Dropbox have a web site in their FAQ how to do that if not clear.

Thanks for responding!

My problem is that my project and project folder are not on my Windows PC yet because I created the project on the iPad. So without being able to transfer from the iPad to Dropbox, I also can’t get the project onto the PC so far. I confirmed that there’s no Scrivener Projects folder in my PC Documents folder.

Any other way to get this project off my iPad…?

Many thanks!

You don’t need to install the Dropbox app on iOS to sync Scrivener using Dropbox.

You DO need to install the Dropbox app on your PC.

You only need to pay for a Dropbox subscription if you plan on syncing more than 2 GB of data or if your’re using the Dropbox app on more than 3 devices.

In Edit mode, you have to long press on the ‘3 lines’ icon to the right of the project name to drag & drop the project, so be sure you’re doing it that way.

Use iOS Scriv’s Share feature to email or upload a zipped copy of the project to a destination of your choice. See this post for instructions.

Best,
Jim
