As the title says, I just want to add images to my research binder but I have tried every thing from what is in the tutorial to several videos and guides - all give the same result. Just a gray screen with tiny rectangle. Am I doing something wrong or following the wrong tutorial?
Hi.
Have you tried to insert the image in a blank document? (Simple drag and drop.)
Images donât require to be neither imported or in the Research folder.
[EDIT] I just did, however, drag an image to the research folder directly and it worked. Please describe what you mean by âimportâ.
And I just now tested File / import / Files...
and that worked too.
What format is your image?
Hi.
I have tried
- inserting image in blank document [drop/drag - nothing shows up or changes]
- Insert/Image from file
- directly into the research folder [drag/drop] and get the gray screen
- file/import/files
I have tried and changed the image to jpeg, jpg, and png
edit. is there a size/dimension limit?
Good question.
Perhaps the resolution is problematicâŠ
You should try with an image that is both small in size and low resolution. A partial screenshot, for example.
Or perhaps try this here image:
(Right click it : save image as.) It is 4kb on disk.
If this one works, youâll know the problem is with your image, not with your system / Scrivener.
. . . . . . . .
It was the size/dimensions. I reduced the size of the images I needed and they finally took. Thanks for the brain power.
If youâd like to include images in your project and keep the overall size of the project to a minimum, use Insert â Image Linked to File. The project will only grow by the characters that make up the link, i.e. a few KB at the most. However, the image will still be included.
The same applies when you add them through the Bookmarks feature.
I like in the research folder use File > Import > File as Shortcut. the Image will import and you have a lot of right click options for it. This also limits the impact on project size of any pictures or pdfâs imported this way.
Yes, in the latest version a size limit exist, due to the platformâs limitations.
Or just maybe you were only seeing an up-close corner of the image? On my platform, when you drop an image in, it generally appears way zoomed in so you only see a fraction of the image. Double-clicking the image brings up the dialog to adjust its presentation to something visible in the panel frame.
If imported as a shortcut at bottom of file in editor footer it will say the level of zoom.
When you right click on the image, there is the choice to fit to window.
