Mac OS 26.2 (keep toaster free)

Yay! Mac OS 26.2 is out and hopefully the promised macOS Tahoe beta fixes bug with Electron apps that caused widespread performance issues actually works so I can go back to using Safari. (It has been extremely slow since upgrading to Tahoe; I’ve had to use Vivaldi. I like Vivaldi, just prefer Safari.)

Going to install 15.7.3 in a minute, but still interested how your 26.2 experiment turns out.

So far, Safari is zipping along like in days of yore. Sites load lickety-split, links open in new tabs toot sweet. Except for Reddit; I think Reddit hates Safari ‘cos it just sits there ignoring clicks, but this predates the Safari-is-slow-in-Tahoe issue.

I’ve been deceived before by upgrades, but unless I report otherwise, Safari is working pretty well, now.

Don’t know if this is important for anyone:

Update: macOS Tahoe 26.2 does not fix the Reduce Transparency bug where transparency remains prominent throughout MacOS even if enabled, with the accessibility feature being broken since the Tahoe 26.1 release. This is a feature many Mac users rely on to reduce overlapping text and other annoying legibility issues with Tahoe that did not exist in prior MacOS versions. Some users are also reporting a new bug/issue in MacOS Tahoe 26.2 where local networking between Macs running Tahoe and Sequoia no longer works.

Sounds like a beta, not a solid release

The developers of iCab, which is built on the Safari web engine, have just had to release a version to fix a bug in 26.x which prevented the browser from accessing many websites!
