@CallyRose We have been in Albania for almost a year. I’m from the US and my partner is from Romania, so we travel between Europe and America because of our visas. It’s going to be a big month for sure!
A huge month! Good luck. I am admiring your ambition and drive from afar.
It’s especially good when there’s a global pandemic (god forbid that should ever happen). The only problem is it’s a bit rainy… and chilly… and windy. And the sheep are, to continue the theme, bleaty.
Preferable to the bleating of blonde idiots though
Feeling rather cross today. I’m considering toasting everybody in this group… I’ve actually contributed a blog post to NaNo before and it became a key tenet in it thereafter…
What has happened claudia
I was Googling my real name and found multiple mentions of NaNoWriMo. Upon further inspection it hit me that I actually contributed a blog post to it. It was so well received that NaNoWriMo featured my method of plotting in later revisions of their handbook/guidebook even for younger writers.
But really what fuelled my fury was my best friend betrayed me big time. I’d warned her, pleaded with her, given her information, hoped and prayed she remained on my side, because she knew a lot of my secrets — and yet had given herself away to the enemy. So I was incensed and looking for ways to make it seem as though I was no longer active on the cybersphere under my real name. (I had purged the Internet of my legacy social media profiles in 2020, but alas I’d contributed to academic literature these two pandemic years.) That way my nemesis, whether it was the one she knew pertaining to my secrets or the one she allied herself with which is in fact my adversary, would have no reason to hunt me down.
Really sorry Claudia that you have had to go to great length to keep your privacy. Did Nano ever acknowledge your work when using it
Yes, they did. They were civil back then. And my social media links in that blog post are now obsolete, but back then I was rather open about sharing my life and work.
Good luck everyone. And @SheilaWrote I hope the travelling goes smoothly and you get time to write.
Good luck everyone! I’ve not had a good start - thought I had it all planned (in my head) but it’s not flowing!
Hope you are all doing ok!
@Susan67 Fingers crossed it will start to flow. With NiaD, I was ready to give up within half an hour of starting, but we can do this!!! We can
I haven’t actually started yet. Meant to be doing the day job at the moment but getting distracted. I think I have too many rough snippets from years of ideas and I might be better discarding most of them rather than attempting to stick them together . So although I’m not actually writing yet, I am worrying. We’ll see.
Thank you! There was a bit of a hiccup, due to new restrictions we can’t go to Italy, so we are going to Greece instead. I was able to get 5k done today and about to sit down for round two. Best of luck to all!
Wow, well done you! Brilliant start.
Wow wow wow!!! Amazing @SheilaWrote . And I love that you’re just nipping to Greece rather Italy. It sounds very calm but was it really? I am likely to be living vicariously through you this month - both for word count and location
Good luck all I have not actually written but will tonight
What great adventure how long on the road travelling is it a camper van
Good luck @homeport. I’m about to try
It does sound calm, but it certainly didn’t start out that way. Quite the opposite really. But now everything is booked and the ferry ride is only 30 minutes as opposed to the 10 hours we would have been on the other one. Looking forward to the change of scenery after being in the same town in Albania for almost a year. I’m really looking forward to spending some time in local cafes there to write. All kinds of new inspirations are waiting!
living in a camper is our dream! Someday we will make it happen for sure! I think it’s funny how when I was growing up, living in a van down by the river sounded like such a bad thing (thanks, SNL) and now it’s my life goal
