Caffeine serf! Initially I thought that a brilliant idea, except then I remembered I live in Australia and we never really took on the whole serfdom approach to agriculture. Guess I’ll have to go out for a leisurely weekend breakfast at my favourite cafe before I start because, here in south-eastern Australia, NIAD starts at the oh-so-challenging time of 10am on Saturday. Did I also mention that it’s spring here and the weather’s fabulous?

So: curly quotes or straight?
Indented paragraphs or blank lines between?
.rtf .doc .txt .what?
Italics as, ah, italics or marked with underlines?

Same here, btw. I do quite a bit of fiction editing. So if anyone wants me to do a read-through of their wip for spelling, grammar or punctuation, just let me know. I won’t change style or turn of phrase.

Well, you’ll be pleased to hear that there is a short but sweet style guide in your briefing packs (which I’m busy compiling now!). But, far be it from me to discourage people making my life easier, here are answers to the specifics you asked…
I like curly!
Indentations rather than blank lines. If you need a blank line to be preserved (eg for a scene break) then please indicate that with three hashmarks (###).
.RTF is probably the simplest and easiest, but as long as I can open the file / import it to Scrivener then I’m happy.
Anything you want done as italics in the final document should be submitted as italics.
Yes, one more! Please use “double quotes” (rather than ‘single quotes’) for speech.

Not sure I am in the same place as some other NiADs due to circumstances…
Little bit too much wine already tonight means I will be snoring and comatose at 12.00pm and unable to access my email! My Alarm will go off at 6.00am tomorrow only because I will have forgotten to switch it off for the weekend, as usual!
6.30am I will, bleary eyed, download the NiAD stuff and make a start. 6.35 will lie back and consider the heavens and any potential get out clause…
Cook breakfast for the family
At 10.30 I will be down at my allotment (rented fruit and veg growing area - common in the UK) shovelling 1/2 ton of manure delivered (annually) by local farmer for ground/soil improvement - weather permitting (it was scheduled for last week but cancelled due to rain).
12.30 Pick up and review NiAD stuff and write…
1.30 Family Lunch and then at around 2.00pm we go down the football (Soccer) - Leicester City V Huddersfield. We are Season Card Holders supporting Leicester City.
Home at around 6.00pm and cooking Dinner for the family.
7.00 NiAD stuff until Deadline.
Last Year I bowed out before the day as I was worried life would get in the way!
Looking forward to it greatly. More than the sh*t shovelling, anyway.

Hmm. ‘Indentation’ here must be a code word for some particular manner of achieving indentation. Did you have in mind a single tab character for indentation or did you mean something else.
