Okay, I don’t know that it doesn’t do anything, but it’s currently set to “ctrl + shift+ o” and I’m trying to use for links in a given document via a macro. Similar to how a browser will open a new tab if you middle-click on a link, I’m trying to get the middle click on my mouse to open a link to the other tab, so I don’t need to right click and and navigate the dropdown menu every time.
But, the macro doesn’t do anything to those link, and as far as I can tell, neither does the direct shortcut if I just use my keyboard.
Am I missing something obvious?
Hi.
Have you tried this ?
If you always want links to open in the other editor, that’d be the way to go about it.
I have looked at that and I don’t want it to always happen. That’s why I was banking on a shortcut to get me there
Right click the link, then, arrows : down-right-down (<your macro)
The shortcut isn’t for links but for a binder selection.

Right, that’s a shame. Welp, consider this a feature request then
But agree with Vincent, change the way a link opens for the times you need this function, then back to your default choice when you are finished the task. Yes will take a moment, but then can work the way you want without the hassle.
Personally, I never use the split monitor options as have a three monitor setup and using QRP’s does the trick for me.
No. Because it varies by link. Sometimes I want to go on to the link. Sometimes I want to open it without moving away from where I am. I literally never know what the next function I need will be.
A relative workaround. If it is only a question of “other editor vs current editor”, one thing you could do, that would get you closer to what you want, would be to set the options to always open the links in the other editor. You can then make that other editor be the sole editor via a single click, top right corner, whenever you would otherwise have opted for the link to open in place (current editor).
Perhaps you could even build an AutoHotKey macro, if you take advantage of that. And think about it for a while. (Which I haven’t. Thus the “perhaps”
)
. . . . . . . . . .
What would be nice is if there was a configurable Alt+click in the options, like there is for other things.
Like :
click –> current editor
Alt+click –> Other editor.
Problem solved.
(I’d use it.)

I know right? That would be the ideal solution!
