A feature I use a lot on the Mac version is page-up and page-down (FN-up and FN-down keys). I prefer viewing pages rather than scrolling when reading.
Could you please add this to Scrivener for iOS, both when pressing the aforementioned keys on a physical keyboard, and also through software buttons.
If you donāt have space for software buttons in the interface, perhaps you could consider enabling a gesture option that allows swiping up and down on the screen to move the pages up and down rather than scroll.
Could you also please consider enabling typewriter mode on the iPhone (at least the Plus-sized ones). I keep finding myself typing continuously on the last line and itās distracting.
Could you please consider adding a setting in the app that prevents the device from auto-locking?
I know that this is a system-wide setting, and I prefer to keep it enabled system-wide, but some apps have settings that can keep the device āawakeā while on the screen.
This would be helpful when Iām going between reading a book/handwritten notes and then typing something in Scrivener.

I Donāt know if I mentioned it on this forum yet, but for many years I was unable to write more than a few pages of any novel I started. The going was tough, took me forever and everything was disjointed.
Then I tried typing a novel on my iPhone 6+. I wrote 70K words in a matter of a couple of weeks (mostly at night in bed).
I could not understand how I could be so much more productive on the iPhone writing with my thumbs, than on a full-fledged keyboard. Also keep in mind I Have used computers since the ergonomics were designed for hominids with four opposite thumbs.
The big revelation was this:
No, scratch that. There were two revelations, one big, one small.
The small one was the phone ability to catch 90% of my spelling mistakes, including āin contextā mistakes and substitute on the fly the right word.
Initially, I thought that was the reason for my increased productivity, but I was wrong, at least partially. It turned out that a big part of the reason why I am more productive on iPhone (and only slightly less so on the iPad) was that I could not see the rest of the page outside of the sentence I was writing.
I discovered that I have a compulsion of correcting any spelling mistake in the page and go back to read previous sentences and then lose myself in rewriting them.
I cannot do that on an iPhone. I am forced to ignore what I cannot see which means I can focus on what I am writing.
Turns out my writing sucks just as much as when I wrote fewer words, b ut at least now I am shooting for quantity hoping that quality will follow.
Is that even a thing on iOS? The fn key in general isnātāsome third-party Bluetooth keyboards might have one, but itās all internal Iām sure, to access built-in alternate keys for things like volume control. Appleās keyboards lack an fn key. Iāve never seen a third-party keyboard with a PgUp/Down set anywayāeven forward delete is hard to find. At any rate, Iāve never seen an iOS text editor that had a concept of āpageā. They all scroll freely.
There is no room for the button. There are a lot of things that were cut simply because there isnāt enough space to provide access to the function. Itās not just a matter of the 6+, the iPhone UI has to scale down to iPhone 4 and 5 screen widths. We have the same issue with the iPads too. You look at Scrivener on the big iPad Pro and it looks like dozens of buttons could be addedāthen you look at Scrivener on a Mini and it starts to make sense.
Iām using an Apple bluetooth keyboard, which has an āfnā key but obviously, if itās not an iOS standard, you canāt really implement it. I wonder whether an option could be to eventually add a āreading modeā where pagination could be controlled with arrow keys to switch between pages. This would be very useful.
For typewriter mode, perhaps the option could be in the settings (cog) menu, like this, it wouldnāt take up any space in the editor.
It doesnāt have to be a button. It can be a switch in preferences/settings. People either use typewriter scrolling or not; I enabled mine on the Mac years ago and donāt even remember how and where.
I know itās not scrolling by a screenful at a time as youād like, but option-down arrow and option-up arrow will scroll by a paragraph at a time. Thought it might be helpful.
Right, and there are surely PDF viewers that can scroll by page height, never mind the programs that work in pages by default like ePub readersābut with text editing Iāve never seen that.
+1 for typewriter scrolling on iOS (unless itās already been added and Iāve somehow missed it.) The writing experience is really nice, but itās annoying to have to stop every few lines and move the page up. It wouldnāt have to be toggled with a button, just a switch in the settings would be fine.
I canāt verify itās there on iOS, having no iPhone, but I can tell you itās present and works well on an iPad which uses similar if not allways equal iPadOS.
You would find it as a small button marked āTā, among a few others on the left side of the upper border of your edit space. Touch it and it lights up, after which the current typing llne stays up the vertical center of the page, once youāve reached that, the text above scrolling up each time it needs to.
Thatās the default, which you can also turn on in the Project|Editor settings.
Thereās also a choice in the main iPad Settings|Scrivener|Typewriter Scrolling, where you can set the positioning to other interesting proportions of the screen besides the āMiddleā.
Itās a pretty complete feature, and I hope you find itās present one way or another on the iPhoneās interface. The tips on settings might help to so ascertainā¦
