Resized images still print at the same size

I right click on an image and do ‘Scale Image’.

I change the number in the ‘points’ box.

In Scrivener, the image looks bigger, but when I compile the project to pdf, the image size has not changed.
How do I change the compiled image size?
I see that in the screenshots above, Scriv tells me that the dpi has changed, but the number of pixels has not. What does this mean? What are the ‘points’ that I am changing in the box?

By scaling it up, the quality of the image is degraded. There are not enough pixels to cover the area in typographical points (1/72 of an inch).

To compile, check out the IMG Placeholder, mentioned in the Placeholders PDF from the Help menu, or use Replacements with a full filepath to the image.

Scrivener is not going to edit the image (change the raster). You are changing the print size, as measured in points, which are 1/72nd of an inch. Thus, your original image is already 9 inches wide! Wider than the PDF, I am sure, and so being shrunk to fit. Making it almost 14 inches wide (1000pts) isn’t going to change anything.

By the way, for print you usually want to target 300 dpi. Screen resolution, 96dpi, is already very low quality, in the sense that you will see pixels.

You’re right about the size of the original image. The problem is that compiled page looks like this.

The page size is A4, so why is Scriv shrinking it, and how do I prevent that?

That’s a separate problem. I’ve post an update to the bug report thread.
