Sorry, what do you mean by that? You tried the fix above and it works fine now, which is what the others are reporting and thus would be “the same”? It’s confusing though because you go on to write that it is still crashing.
Scapple always crashing here on full-screen: 1.5.1 (Mac) OS 13.7.6 (2017 iMac 27")
I have tried downloading the fix but the page linked to just gives me this message:
“Having problems using our site?
CONTACT US FOR SUPPORT”
So problems using the site (the link from this forum does not go to a beta download link) trying to fix a problem with Scapple. As it’s three weeks since the last response could this possibly be stepped up a bit?
Thanks, A.
Thanks for the note! We recently did some work on the website and this file got missed. I’ve uploaded it to the right spot and the link now works again.
Many thanks Amber - download link works, new beta works, iMac (originally bought with Scapple in mind) friction-free again.
A.

Hi there. I had the preview version open in full screen. Then closed the App. Then bought a licence. Now I cannot open Scapple anymore. It tries to open in full screen mode but crashes. I deleted the old version and installed 152beta as suggest. It still does not open. Now I have a licence without App Do I have to delete any supporting files somewhere?
Thanks for help.
Sorry for the delay in getting back to this, I’m just coming back from holiday.
Yes, you could perform a reset to clear any states or temporary data that might be blocking a clean launch. Make sure to close Scapple before doing any of this, otherwise it might just replicate the problems into newly created files when you close it.
I would make a temporary folder somewhere, perhaps in Downloads), for dragging and dropping the following files into—just in case this doesn’t work, then you can restore them, or maybe you find bits of things you lost that didn’t want to (like an untitled board that didn’t get saved yet before a crash, that’s actually still on the disk as a temp file):
- ~/Library/Application Support/States (just that subfolder, everything else should stay).
- ~/Library/Preferences/com.literatureandlatte.scapple.plist
- ~/Library/Autosave Information (for this one, look for .scap files and a copy of the aforementioned .plist file, and clean those out, leaving everything else). This is ordinarily cleaned up, but crashes can leave stuff behind that might be messing things up.
After doing that, log out and back in, to ensure that your preference caches are reset. Those are all of the places where temporary files would be stored, or where configuration exists that would dictate if a board should load in full screen.
