My point is WHO determines what “normal” is in software delivery? The vendor. Period. If you want USB to be your method then so be it.
I know, and I’m one of the most guilty on that score. I’ve started to at least TRY to notice how often I get off topic or help lead folks off topic. Don’t think I’ve mentioned Hitler yet, though… ![]()
Going back off topic …
People in US (or at least Oregon) stay home, quietly nesting, and no cold comes to them. As for us, people inhabiting south of Portugal (warm and sunny most of the time), since we have houses that are crap on maintaining heat inside (great to keep heat outside, though), get a nasty cold every time the temperature drops a couple of degrees.
(Says, Maria aka MJ, with another blow on the kleenex. )
Well, at least I have a nice 10 year old Port wine to keep me company.
PS. Obama is in Hawaii. I bet it’s warm and nice there.
I did buy the CD drive for my MBA, and don’t regret it since I know I will use it from time to time; but in 6 months, I think I’ve used it twice and that’s been for burning CDs, not for reading anything off them. I’m using USB drives all the time, whether USB stick or portable hard-disk, so getting software – when non-dowloaded – on a USB stick would be brilliant. And when you’ve got it, the user could put the registration details on it in some sort of encrypted text format so that they didn’t have to hunt for the paper or search elsewhere to find the registration number. I’d encrypt it so that if I lost the USB or it was pinched, no miscreant could steal my licence without a lot of work!
Agreed. I wish I had the display quality of the MBA on my Rev 1 MBP with its 17" screen. But I have to say that I much prefer the keyboard on the MBP … perhaps I should get myself one of the Apple aluminium bluetooth keyboards to use if and when I eventually I upgrade the MBP when they’ve brought out a new 17" one, 'cos the 15" seems to have the look, and therefore the ergonomics of the MBA one. That said, I love the MBA to bits.

Reductio ad Hitlerium, or Godwin’s Law (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Godwin’s_Law). Certain other forums I frequent invoke Godwin on an almost daily basis, so, yes, it’s very pleasant to avoid him (and Hitler) here.
H
Way back when Mike Godwin and I were college chums and the internet was a gleam in DARPA’s eye, little did either of us know that he would achieve immortality on Hitler’s coattails! He sure got that one right, much to his chagrin, I imagine.
Well, I was going to try to say something witty, but let’s drop that. Though, it is impressive to see how long a thread can meander off the subject. Well done vic-k as always.
And I too want a USB key, and a mug, and…
It is that damn logo, simple, black and white, gorgeous.
Best of the season to you all from snowy, freezing Montreal,
Simon
Crisp nights, but in the day, it is sunny skies and we keep popping up into the 70s°F. 8) My sweeter half complains at the lack of frigid precipitation.
Maybe you poor snow-bounders would like to bunk in for a long winter’s Scriv-fest. B.Y.O. Scrivener sleep shirt.

P.S. The Scriv pill is a fun idea. If you really turn later to consider a Scriv-branded USB drive, give some thought to its footprint. The cylindrical shape (as opposed to a flatten design) makes it look like a happy pill, but on the down side appears to make it pretty “tall” sitting in the port.
P.P.S. USB suppository. Do I need a port adapter for that?
Given that we have, however briefly, strayed back on topic…

Good point for drives that you use for storage. For a simple installation device I don’t think it matters, though. I did look at others, but this was the most style black-and-white design…
Best,
Keith

Yeah, sounds right.
Sorry, all, for dabbling in the thread topic! ![]()

I guess if you have to ask, then… ![]()

USB Suppository…
Now I know why I recall the shape.
Did anybody read Papillon by that con man Henri Charriere ?
The chargers that they carried with them in their…intestines…
I can think of so many 21st century uses.
Nice one KB.
Paul
Or are you talking about a bigger drive, just sporting the Scriv Logo, and no content?
Yes, just so.
Yes, just so.
I think that`s a brill Marketing ploy. People not needing/wanting Scriv, would still be introduced to its name and possibly become intrigued.

Put the “pill” in the coffee mug and include a small instruction sheet before plastic wrapping.
INSTRUCTIONS:
Take pill out of mug.
Insert Pill.
Fill Mug.
Proceed.

I believe that this configuration would come under the jurisdiction of the DMCA (Digital Millenium Coffee Act) here in the states…
‘Under’ ?!
Dang it, that IS the DIgital Millennium Coffee Act.
