Life: the mystery
Four seasons you get to solve
Has anyone?

Hi @pigfender

I’ve finished mine. It’s very short and minimalistic, so I keep changing the odd word here and there, and then writing completely different versions.

This is what procrastinators do!

My dilemma: should I submit it now or wait until the weekend, thus prolonging the agony?

(Also, don’t want to offend anyone who is writing an epic 3000 words).

Remember the parable of James Joyce… When asked what he accomplished that day, whilst in the bar drinking his dinner and sorrows, James replied, “I wrote seven words.”

“That’s great! Progress at last James, you’re doing just great, I’ll bet you’ll do even better tomorrow!”

“Problem is…” James replied, “I don’t know what order they are in.”

Snark aside, there is a time and a place for rewrites and edits, but its when the story isn’t working. If the story works, don’t pull a Lucas and let the work stand on its own.

Just to let you all know (not that you necessarily want to know): I have just this very moment submitted my 2963 word epic.

I enjoyed writing it. I may be the only person who will enjoy reading it.

Well done, Owen!

I now feel inspired to submit mine - once I’ve re-read how to format the document for submission.
Then can relax and procrastinate as usual on all my unfinished WIPs.

Mine is in. It was over 3000 words so I’ve had to whittle it down. I hope it still makes some sense, though I rather doubt it.

Hi @pigfender,

I’ve just submitted mine.

Scrivener says it’s 100 words, but my word processor says it’s 132.

Sorry it’s a bit short but it’s a certain type of story/poem.

Actually, it’s easier in some ways to write a long story.
I think the email I’ve sent you is longer than my story. Lol.

Hello. Yes, I’m in. Prepare for much mystery.

Dear Mr. Pigbender,

I have just now not submitted my story and I wanted you to know I fully intend to keep on not submitting it every day at least once a day until further notice. I would do more, but a good deal of my time right now is, as I think you know, devoted to not growing alfalfa.

I did attend very well to the requirements on word length, but my non-submission still comes out to be indeterminately many words. I can’t at this point really say I’m sorry. So, sorry about that.

Dear [Mr/Mrs/Ms/M, etc] gr,

I just didn’t want to let you know that I have not finished reading your post—twice.

(and I laughed all three times).

Sent in just under 3000 words. Thank you Rog for taking time out to do this.

I would also be interested in participating. I already have the short mystery written, but it is slightly over the 3,000 word limit, so I may have to cull it down.

Hi there! Welcome to the forum! I’ve added you to the list!

Hi Rog,
A friend of mine told me about this (Matt Jardine). Can I sign up please?

Hurries off to type a chunk of gibberish. If anyone asks why the text is unreadable, explain that they obviously have not solved the mystery!
