Hello! I’ve created a theme I like, but when I try to follow the ‘Window > Themes > Save Theme To File’ path, it won’t let me click “Same Theme to File”, the option is greyed out.
I also attempted to same the theme following this path: ‘File > Options > Appearance > Manage > Save Theme Options to File’, but it saves as a .prefs file type, which Scrivener is not reading.
Can I please have some help figuring out how to save this theme? I can’t find any relevant tutorials online.
Yes, you probably based your theme on the Default Theme, which doesn’t allow Theme-based changes to be saved.
If this is the case, your best bet is to start with the White Theme, and import your prefs file into that.
You’ll have to recreate parts of your Theme before saving that as a personal Theme.
If you want to know how deep the Themes rabbit hole goes, I can help you with that. Essentially a scrtheme-file is a zip-file with a palette, preferences, stylesheet and a small xml manifest. Changing the QSS-Stylesheet will give you a plethora of styling options…
Or you can modify the default theme and save as preferences file with different colors, etc. You can then load the preference file and your default theme is now changed. However, Antoni is right that to save as a theme file, you need to take a created file and change it and then save it with a new name.
I see, thank you for the in-depth answer! Since I love this kind of thing and I’m certain to fall down this rabbit hole I’ll be sure to come back around to that ebook
Taking notes, I also read some of your other posts explaining the process. Thank you!
