Word Manuscript Compile adds Multiple New Lines Before Chapter Titles

I see several references to a single new line before the chapter section titles.

I am experiencing thirteen (13) additional lines before each chapter title. I’ve searched through the Format Designer, but can’t find any setting to remove those extra linefeeds.

Any suggestions how I might correct this issue? (see attached)

Hello bmcmanus. When customizing your compile settings, please go to the Section Layouts options in the left-hand column. Then, please select the bolded Section Layout that you’re using for your chapter headers.

In the lower formatting area, please select the New Pages tab. Here, you’ll see the “Pad top of page with” options. You can change the setting using that selector.
