I am told that if you go to the Edit tab, then scroll all the way down to SPEECH; that Scivener will read you text aloud to you. I’ve copying my document to MS word for this functuon. Which by the way is encourmously helpful for edittting.

Just tested it on Win 11 ARM64/Scrivener 3 (Under Parallels in MacBook Pro) and it works just fine.
Under speech ( believe under edit) there is a settings option to choose diff voice and change tone and speed
Hadn’t used in a while, but worked before but not now???
It reads my Synopses back to me. I write it per scene after each chapter is complete. I’m a reverse-plotter.
Interesting, when I restarted Scrivener and I used the mic icon, then Scrivener read my text in the Editor. Try restarting scrivener and see if that works (have latest version)

I have tried the speech option as well and it dictates properly but it does not read to me. I do like this feature in word but it would be great if this program does it as well. I am using narriator in the meantime but, I would like the program to read to me.
What should I try?

Click in the Editor or Synopsis containing text, hit the mic icon and away you go.

Ok thanks, I thought I read somewhere in the tutorial that it could.
So, it does read aloud your writing.
It certainly reads my writing both on macOS Sequoia, and on Win 11.
Both through the menu Edit > Speech>Start Speaking (win and Mac) and I’ve only tried on the Mac with the mic icon added to the toolbar.
No issues at all.
Well i found the speak area. Edit>Speech>Start speaking and when I click on it, nothing happens. When I go into the settings to try to adjust it ro something to see if it will speak, its quiet. I’m using windows. What else should I try/missing? I already restarted my pc and program. The sound is on, my music works, narrator works, just that path in the program doesn’t.
