They are not bad but considering that I will spend many hours in then week looking at the theme, I want more alternatives.
Any other themes around but these default themes in the latest version of Scriveners? And if yes, where do I find them and what is the process to upload them in the Scriveners app?
Sorry for any dumb question but I never did it before.
I have never used any default templates for my E-Book production but created my own ones, refined them over time and feel very happy with what I have now. It makes sense to invest some time to create your own compile format, which I can strongly recommend.
A theme or template is more than just the appearance in the editor. If you’re wondering what I meant by that, it’s like this: I don’t use a predefined theme, styles or preformat, but instead I strictly separate content from format, just as Scrivener was originally intended. The appearance of the output, which many beginners might interpret as a theme, is simply the compile format for me. I distinguish between pure content (text), and various compile formats, which I use depending on the application. The unformatted manuscript thus produces an eBook, a PDF, or another standard format and the finished appearance.
Essentially, a Theme is a Zip-file with a scrtheme extension, containing a Palette (.pal), Preferences (.prefs), Stylesheet(.qss), and a small Manifest(.xml).
Unzip the scrtheme-file with 7-zip and edit the files to create your own Theme…
I agree that it’s about Themes and this word has a very specific meaning and can’t be confused with Compile Formats or Templates. That’s why I asked how ThoRab “compiles themes”.
Most Community Themes are free. You can buy them on Etsy for peanuts if you like those better. My Tropical Night Theme is very elaborate and thus more expensive…
