Dynamically renaming files

I number the files in my project, e.g.:
Text 1
Text 2
Text 3

Unfortunately, this makes it difficult to insert a file in between existing ones. For example, if I wanted to insert something between 1 and 2, I’d like that to be the new Text 2 and the former Text 2 and 3 should rename to Text 3 and 4.

Have I just not found that function, or is there a better way to work with Scrivener?

The “Scrivener-like” way to do it is to skip the numbers for now, and let the Compile command take care of them.

If you haven’t already, I’d recommend taking a look at our Interactive Tutorial, available from the Help menu. It’s a good overview of how Scrivener differs from other tools you might have used.
